A person detained in Dhoondihoo for investigations died suddenly today.

The Office of the Police reported that Muaaviath of Raiyvinna of Maafannu of Male’, detained in Dhoonidhoo on a drugs related issue, died today morning having brought to Male’ and whilst receiving treatment from IGMH [Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital] for health complications he was facing.

Police reported that he had been detained three times for drug related issues and that the last time he was detained on the fourth of this month. When questioned about different rumours related by the public concerning the death of Muaaviath, the Office of the Police replied that the cause of Muaaviath’s death has not yet been fully determined.

“The Doctors’ Report are being prepared. We would know the cause of the death then,” a high official at the Office of the Police said.
