Bougainvillea of Male. The lawsuits of these four people were sent to the Criminal Court from the Attorney General's Office yesterday.
All four are members of the Special Majlis. Zaki and Munawwar are also member of the People's Majlis.
The Attorney General's Office reported that the State pressed charges against the four people because they attempted to overthrow the lawfully formed Government of the Maldives, under article 29 of the Penal Code.
To date 17 people have been charged among those detained in connection with the incident committed at Republic Square.
The Criminal Court said today trials of those charged by the State in connection with this incident will commence very soon.
"We are studying the charges brought by the State before the commencement of the trials. It's difficult to state the date the trials will start at the moment",
a high official at the court said.
ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE SENDS TO CRIMINAL COURT LAWSUITS AGAINST TWO SUSPECTED OF CAUSING UNREST IN REPUBLIC SQUARE

The Attorney General's Office has sent to the Criminal Court on Wednesday State lawsuits against two suspected of involvement in the unlawful acts committed at the Republic Square on 12th night and 13 August.
A press statement released from the Attorney General's Office today said that cases of Zuhaira Umar, H.Manaal of Male' and Abdul Jaleel, G.Kenereege of Male' have been sent to the Criminal Court.
The State is charging Zuhaira Umar under article 50 of the Penal Code with reference to article 46 of the Code of breaching public peace in an unlawful assembly and under article 38 of the Penal Code of creating sedition and hatred among Maldivians against the Government established by law the press statement said.
Abdul Jaleel is charged under under article 50 of the Penal Code with reference to article 46 of the Code of breaching public peace in an unlawful assembly.
The press statement also said that some among those involved in the incident have now been released from detention and others have been transferred to house arrest. The cases among these to be sent to court will be sent soon the Attorney General's Office said.
