Reporting network for relatives of persons detained or facing trial in the Maldives

About the network

The network is a peaceful civil-society initiative pursued by families of persons in detention in the Maldives. This initiative was born in late 2004 in response to popular concerns over police impunity and lack of judicial independence in the Maldives.

The network enables families to report their efforts to realise the legal rights of their relatives to a number of concerned international bodies and international donor agencies. These bodies include The British Foreign and Commonwealth Office, The Commonwealth Secretariat, US State Department, European Commission, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Asia-Pacific Forum and Amnesty International.
